Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) is expected to release new research on women physicians of color and wellness later this year.
With funding from The Physicians Foundation, PHC partnered with the University of California to assess the well-being of women physicians of color as it relates to burnout, career satisfaction and mental health.
Nearly 500 women physicians of color participated in the project, and more than 1 in 3 reported feeling burnt out. Approximately 1 out of 4 experience discrimination in the workplace and/or had their competence questioned by their colleagues monthly.
The research will ultimately inform processes and structures to better support and empower women physicians of color. Stay tuned for the full report’s release later in 2021.
