Looking Ahead
May 2,
2022By Physicians for a Healthy California General
As we begin the second quarter of 2022, Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC) is inspired by the year ahead of us. The pandemic has been challenging, to say the least. It has also changed the world we know, especially in health care. More than ever, the work that PHC does is vital to help address the state’s physician shortage. PHC remains committed to our mission of improving community health, growing a diverse physician workforce and promoting health equity.
In 2022, PHC will be investing more than $99.2 million to strengthen California’s health care safety net. CalHealthCares will award approximately $63.9 million in loan repayment funds to physicians and dentists committed to providing care to Medi-Cal communities. CalMedForce will award over $35.3 million to support physician graduate medical education programs to sustain, retain and expand residency positions. KidsVaxGrant will award approximately $10 million to Vaccines for Children Program providers to support community COVID-19 vaccination sites and expansion of clinic hours. These programs will continue to increase access to care and build the health of our communities.
