CalMedForce application cycle opens August 2
May 2,
2022By Physicians for a Healthy California CalMedForce
Over half of California’s counties lack the number of primary care physicians recommended by national health experts. The scarcity of residency positions, especially in underserved communities, has further exacerbated the state’s physician shortage. CalMedForce supports and expands California’s graduate medical education (GME) residency training programs, especially in our most vulnerable communities.
The next CalMedForce application cycle will open August 2, 2022. California residency programs that meet the following eligibility criteria are welcome to apply:
- Located in California
- Licensed as allopathic or osteopathic
- Provide primary care (family medicine, internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology or pediatrics) or emergency medicine residency positions
- Accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education or will have formal accreditation by time of contract execution
- Serve medically underserved populations and areas
