CalHealthCares loan repayment program hosting information webinars for upcoming 2023 application cycle

The next application cycle of the CalHealthCares Loan Repayment Program opens January 18, 2023. CalHealthCares provides loan repayment on educational debt for California physicians and dentists who provide care to Medi-Cal patients.
Eligible physicians can apply for a loan repayment award of up to $300,000 in exchange for a five-year service obligation. Eligible dentists can apply for a loan repayment award of up to $300,000 in exchange for a five-year service obligation or a Practice Support Grant of up to $300,000 in exchange for a 10-year service obligation. The program is funded by Proposition 56 (2016) voter-approved, state tax revenues.
The application window runs from January 18 through March 3, 2023.
Assistance for Applicants
Early Review Period:
Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications during the early review period, from January 18 - February 3, 2023.
The early review period will give applicants the opportunity receive feedback from CalHealthCares staff regarding any problems with their applications and will be able to resubmit their applications with amendments.
Informational Webinars:
To assist prospective applicants with the application process, CalHealthCares will host webinars to walk interested applicants through the process. Information will include an overview of the application, important timelines, common errors, and the application scoring system. The webinars conclude with a live question and answer session.
