CalHealthCares FY 2022-23 (Cohort 5) awardee selection nears completion

The most recent application cycle for the CalHealthCares student loan repayment program closed March 17, 2023. We continued to see high demand for physician and dentist loan repayment, with 767 applications submitted this cycle (compared to 694 and 521 applications in FY 20-21 and FY 21-22, respectively).
These applicants requested $135.5 million in loan repayments, with $72.1 million in available funds. To date, CalHealthCares has awarded nearly $340 million in loan repayment funds to 1,362 awardees.
With the review process concluding, the application process is in its final phase of awardee selection. Announcements are anticipated to be made by the end of July 2023. Thank you to all those who answered our call for application reviewers and scorers!
