CalHealthCares completes its fifth application cycle

On behalf of the California Department of Health Care Services, CalHealthCares administers loan repayment on educational debt for California physicians and dentists who provide care to Medi-Cal patients, which represent one-third of Californians and half of the state’s children. Concluding on March 17, 2023, CalHealthCares Cohort 5 received 767 applications for consideration.
The CalHealthCares staff, in collaboration with volunteer scorers, are completing the review and scoring of eligible applications. Current estimates anticipate that approximately $67 million in funding will be extended to 233 physicians and 36 dentists to address their indicated educational loan debt. The CalHealthCares team looks forward to announcing awardees in July.
