This year has been an exciting, yet busy year, for Physicians for a Healthy California (PHC)!
The CalHealthCares loan repayment program successfully administered its fourth cohort, with over $64 million in awards to 214 physicians and 35 dentists.
Additionally, the CalMedForce graduate medical education funding program announced its largest cohort to date. Over $37.9 million was awarded to 129 residency programs across 27 counties to support 210 resident positions in primary care and emergency medicine.
In the summer, the California Department of Public Health contracted with PHC to administer the COVID-19 Test to Treat Equity Grant to more expeditiously connect patients who test positive for COVID-19 with therapeutic treatment. To date, nearly $67 million was awarded to 161 health care organizations.
PHC also administered two grant programs, KidsVaxGrant 1.0 and 2.0, designed to increase COVID-19 vaccine administration rates, issuing $25.7million in awards to 1,381 pediatric practice sites.
In addition, the MedStudentsServe program awarded more than $16,000 in mini grants to 10 medical student organizations to support educational, advocacy, community service and outreach programs that enhance the health and well-being of California’s communities.
